Hey Zoners! Grandpa Growth is back again with another YMTP! The segment where I show you a booster pack, talk about what cards I think are good, and then YOU leave us a shout out with what you would take. We assume this is a pick one, pack one situation.
This week we have a Theros Booster pack that is...not exciting at all. In fact, it is the kind of booster you don't want to open anywhere. No money rare, no sweet tech cards, nothing that is really worth anything outside of limited. Let's take a look:
The rare is generally pretty good, but not great. There really isn't another exciting White card that the next guy could take either, which is a bonus. There is a solid Green option with the Emissary, a card that I like quite a bit. The card I am most excited about is Gray Merchant. Staking your claim to Black early on can really pay off if the packs break the right way. Unfortunately there is also an Insatiable Harpy, a very playable Black card that is likely to go in the next couple of picks. Taking either could potentially mean we get cut on Black in pack 2. Gary is the best card in my opinion, but I would take the Gift of Immortality. White is a very strong color, we aren't giving much up in terms of power, and we aren't sending any clear signals to the left. Final thought: I love Burnished Hart and everyone else thinks it is bad, poor little guy.
There are certainly options here and plenty to think about, but the only question left to ask is...WHAT WOULD YOU PICK?!
