SNAP KEEP!? #2

Hey Zoners! Born of the Gods spoiler week is well under way now and some great new cards have really been spoiled. I can't wait to start cracking packs and digging into all the goodies. Five new Gods, three new dual lands, two new mechanics, and at least one new planeswalker! Color me excited. The release date is just around the corner and I can't wait.

We are back here with another Snap Keep and we have a wild one. This is one of my all-time great calls. Here is the story: Four players. Kitchen table rules against my old college roommates. Old school EDH. I open up this as my starting seven, with an additional card to draw on my first turn. I am playing Nicol Bolas, my old standby. My opponents are on Vaevictus Asmadi land destruction, Sen Triplets artifact theme, and Captain Sisay.

Savvy players will notice that this hand does not contain any lands. That might be a problem...FOR COWARDS! I have 45 lands left in the deck and two chances to hit thanks to our Gitaxian Probe. If we get a single land we can go all in on the turn two Bribery and force the game to be hilarious. The probe will show me if I am up against any disruption, since there is only one other Blue deck at the table. I knew going into the game that the Sen Triplets player had Tinker/Blightsteel in deck. The Sisay player obviously has a ton of juicy targets and I knew for sure that he had Ulamog. Because of this I felt pretty secure about being able to get at least one kill with whatever I get and having a reasonable chance to win the game immediately. My main concern was eliminating the White players as soon as possible because the likelihood of one of them having removal is very high. Swords to Plowshares or Path to Exile are just much more likely than an edict effect from the Jund deck. Worse comes to worst, things will be very interesting whether I draw the land or not and at the very least I had an interesting story to tell. I think what really sells this hand is the completely uncastable Cruel Ultimatum. How could you say no to that?

I don't want to spoil the ending of the story before you guys get a chance to weigh in on the subject. So, with all the information I have shared...would you keep this?
